Frequently Asked Questions

Four steps. Book a review, a short call to talk through what your client has and where the gaps are. I then send a list of exactly what to gather from each exchange and wallet, with instructions specific to those platforms rather than a generic checklist. Once the records come back I confirm a fixed fee before starting any work, then reconcile everything manually and return a workbook with the source files attached, plus a list of anything left for you to decide.

Usually a week from complete records. If something's missing I'll tell you early rather than let it sit.

For two clean exchanges, the software is fine and I'll say so. I ran my own records through three of them, one was within half a percent, one was out by $27,000, one was three times off. Same files. Nothing in the output tells you which one you're holding.

No. We are not a tax agent, don't prepare returns, and don't deal with Inland Revenue. Every judgement call is listed with the amount at stake and left with the accountant.
-
Every workbook shows my figures agreeing with each exchange's own records, with the formula to reproduce them from the source files, which are included.
-
Usually they're just hard to find. Blockchain history is permanent. Bank statements show what was paid. Closed exchange, and the counterparty's records normally fill the gap. Where something can't be recovered I say so and set out the options.
-
As far as needed. Multi-year catch-ups are common and each additional year costs a fraction of the first.

Everything stays confidential and isn't shared without written consent. Data is collected through encrypted services, and all working files are stored offline on encrypted drives.
I only ever ask for read-only exports and public wallet addresses. Never private keys, seed phrases or exchange logins.
